For the first time in history, mobile browsing has completely overthrown desktop browsing. Now, Google has officially stated they will penalize or blacklist any websites that are not mobile-friendly.

Here is the Official Announcement by Google

Starting on April 21st, 2015, the search engine giant will update it’s algorithms to increase rankings for those websites that are already mobile-responsive. Non-compliant sites face losing their existing rankings and being blacklisted by Google. This algorithm update is set to be one of the biggest changes in search history.

This New Google Update Will “Significantly Impact” Websites That Aren’t Mobile-Friendly!

Here’s a brief excerpt from Google’s announcement:

“Starting April 21, we will be expanding our use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal. This change will affect mobile searches in all languages worldwide and will have a significant impact in our search results. Consequently, users will find it easier to get relevant, high quality search results that are optimized for their devices.”

Time is truly running out. If you want your website to appear in Google search results you now need a mobile-responsive website. It is no longer an option but a necessity.

All the valuable information on your website will be rendered useless if your site isn’t set up correctly for mobile viewing. Your website will become invisible.

Survive the Google SmackDown!

Ok, You Definitely Have My Full Attention. So, Is My Website Mobile-Friendly?

First, check your site’s appearance on a mobile device. You have probably noticed the mobile-friendly tags appearing next to all search results (see below). Check your phone or tablet right now. Google your site. Does the mobile-friendly notice appear under the url? If so, you’re good. If not, it is definitely time to upgrade.

Mobile-Friendly Results

Secondly, check your website using Google’s Mobile-Friendly Test. Simply enter your full domain name into the form to see your results.
